"The State of the Field: A Roundtable on the History of the French Revolution"

This roundtable will discuss new research questions and methods in the history of the French Revolution. Each panelist will speak to emerging movements that intersect with his/her own work. Paul Hanson will address scholarship in comparative history and global history in the revolutionary era. Timothy Tackett will assess the debate over the origins of the Terror and political violence. Laura Mason will address microhistory and biographical approaches to examining the Revolution after the Terror. Katie Jarvis will offer insights on the shifting analytical terrain of gender and citizenship. An open discussion with the audience will follow.
