I am a PhD student in the History and Philosophy of Science program, with a particular interest in the history of medicine. My current dissertation-in-progress, titled "Ways of Knowing in English Surgery, 1540-1700," investigates how English surgeons made claims to knowledge about the body, its ailments, and their cures, while also situating them within a broader pan-European tradition of humanistic learning. I also have ongoing interests in a number of topics in the long history of medicine, including histories of pathological thinking, the rise of experimental practices in medicine, and in the intersections of medicine, philosophy, and religion.

I received my MA in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine from the University of Oklahoma, and my BA in Public Health Studies and History of Science, Medicine, and Technology from Johns Hopkins University. My background in the sciences and in laboratory research continues to inform my research and teaching.
