I am a Ph.D. student in History at Notre Dame. My research centers on 20th Eastern Europe with a focus on Ukraine, Poland, and borderlands. I also study state-building through communism and nationalism. I completed my B.A. (with a German minor) and M.A. in history from Austin Peay State University. From 2020-2021, I studied Polish at Jagiellonian University in Krakow through a language scholarship program provided by the Kościuszko Foundation. I returned to Krakow the following summer for additional language study and thesis research. During this time, I also spent two years learning Russian. In 2023 I presented a chapter of my thesis on Polish towards Ukraine in 1918 at three conferences, the Southern Conference on Slavic Studies in Florida, a Regional conference in Bowling Green, and a virtual humanities conference on conflicts of heritage in Krakow. I am a recipient of the Dean's fellowship at Notre Dame.
