Philip is a doctoral candidate whose research and teaching interests include U.S. religion and political culture, with special attention to the interaction of religion and foundation philanthropy. Philip received both a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in higher education from Taylor University. He has published articles in Religions and the edited volume Hoosier Philanthropy (Indiana University Press, forthcoming), and his work has received funding from sources including the Hagley Museum and Library, the Economic History Society, the Business History Conference, and Notre Dame's Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts.
