James Hrdlicka is currently the Jack Miller Center and Penn Program on Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania.  He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Virginia in 2016 and his B.A. in history from Notre Dame in 2010.  He is working on a book that explores the origins of democratic constitutionalism in the warfare and transformation of empire that defined the period of the American founding.
