Profile
Educated at Columbia University and receiving his Ph.D. in 1968, Blantz's principal academic fields of interest have been 20th century United States political and diplomatic history and the history of the University of Notre Dame. Father Blantz has received the Solon J. Buck Award for the "best article in Minnesota History" in 1970, the Cushwa Center Award for the best book-length manuscript in American Catholicism in 1981, the Emily Schossberger Award for contributions to the Notre Dame Press in 1987, the James E. Armstrong Award for distinguished service to the University in 1997, and the Thomas Madden (1974), Rev. Charles Sheed C.S.C., (1979) and John a Kaneb (2001) Awards for teaching.
Teaching Interests
Modern American politics, especially the New Deal, and the history of Catholicism in America.
