I specialize in colonial Latin American history under the direction of Karen Graubart. I am interested in issues of race, labor, and urbanism in eighteenth and early nineteenth century Spanish Caribbean. My dissertation will examine the social networks and labor of free people of African descent in colonial Santo Domingo.
